Second Annual Waste Heat-to-Power Generation Workshop
University of California, Irvine, February 15-16, 2006
The Northwest Combined Heat and Power Regional Application Center and the California Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative organized the Second Annual Waste Heat-to-Power Generation Workshop, a 2-day event held at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering on the University of California, Irvine campus. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, this workshop is the continuation of last year's event of the same name.
The only workshop in the nation devoted to waste heat-to-power applications, Thomas R. Casten, chairman and chief executive officer of Primary Energy, gave the keynote address. The workshop included an overview of the concept of “recycling energy,” a segment on the economics of waste heat-to-power technologies, a discussion of the financial and legal aspects of utilizing waste heat for power, industry presentations, and site visits.
